Activate the key from a Different Network:
In the vast majority of cases this problem is resolved by activating the key from a different computer which acesses the internet a different way.
In most cases users will make arrangements to take the USB key home at night in order to do this, although accessing the internet from any computer outside of your office is all that is necessary.
Updating Your Key Alternate Method
Use this method to activate your key without installing the MicroSurvey program.
Take your USB key to another computer, such as your home computer or another office outside of your current network.
Before you can update your key you will need to ensure you have:
- Internet Access - To update your key, you will need internet access on the computer your will be activating the key from. Once updated, you do not need internet access.
- Administrative Permissions - You will need to install a program so must be logged in as a full administrator.
- USB License Key - You will need to have the USB License Key that was shipped with your purchase.
- USB Port - You will need a free USB port.
Steps:
- Download MicroSurvey License Manager from this link
- Save it to your desktop
- Run the installation by double-clicking on the newly saved icon and following the prompts
- After the installation completes, you can insert the USB License Key in any available USB port on your computer.
- Verify that the correct driver was loaded, a pop up should identify the device as "CBUSB" if it is the first time the key has been inserted and a red LED should be lit on the key. Reinsert the key, try a different port or try a different computer if the LED does not light.
- Go to Start | Programs | MicroSurvey | USB License Manager | and start the License Manager program. (Ensure you follow this step exactly)
- The MicroSurvey License Key Maintenance program will display the information about what products are licensed for the key, how many licenses you are allowed to run, and the expiry date of your Maintenanceā Subscription Support Plan.
- To finish this step and activate your key, press the "Update Key with New Information" button. If successful, you will see a message indicating that the key was updated.
